So, I’m bummed about the NHL right about now. The season should be starting Oct 13th, but there’s a lockout. Apparently, the two sides are no where near each other; the next session of “talks” aren’t even scheduled. Note the massive news stories for the season-opener-should-be.

This past sunday, my wife and I took our kids to a Winter Hawks game. The Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL (Western Hockey League) are the closest we get to NHL around here. People in Oregon don’t really get hockey, which is a shame, cause the sport rawks.

The Hawks lost , and in general, didn’t really look that good. However, it was great for my kids (and us, of course)…particularly cause my oldest is now in Hockey I. So he got to see what it’s really all about–or at least in concept.
