NHL Season Over
Many, many, many have posted about the current crappy NHL situation. Recently, Scott (Check Six) has some pretty good points (biased as they may be) .
In case you’re unfamiliar, here’s a quick timeline:
July 21, 2004: NHL gives the Players’ Association (PA) 6 possible concepts as a framework for a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Aug. 17, 2004: All 6 rejected by the PA.
Sept. 9, 2004: NHL rejects PA offer.
Sept. 15, 2004: NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announces lockout starting Sept 16, midnight.
Nov. 2, 2004: PA holds meeting in Toronto. 74 players representing all teams.
Dec. 2, 2004: NHL meets with 26 of the 30 general managers. PA invites the league to a bargaining session
Dec. 9, 2004: PA makes a proposal to the NHL in Toronto. Rumors abound about the NHL rejection of this offer.
Sadly, I believe the season’s over before it started. Man, that just plain sux.
