		<description>Good tips, although I think #2 is unneccesary.  I've seen those check processing centers, and believe me, they go through *thousands* of checks a day.  They don't have time to write down your account number.  I'm not real big on putting a work number &#038; address either, for a number of reasons.  For one, it's pretty easy to find out someone's home address, and you don't need a check to do it.

One more tip.  The three major credit bureaus are now required to provide you with a free credit report every year, by Federal law.  It's important to keep an eye on your credit report, not only to make sure no one has opened an account in your name, but also to catch mistakes before they cause you problems.  However, you have to go to the correct url, not any of hundreds of the commercial places that will charge you for the service:
