Worst Day of the Year?

Those crazy English. By the time you read this, it’ll mostly be over, but today has been deemed The Worst day of the Year. It’s all downhill from here, apparently.

I can see late January being a rough time…as they point out: crappy weather, Christmas debt, and you get to start really thinking about doing your taxes. It all piles up.

Don’t know about you, but I like January. Parbly has something to do with it being my birthday month, but in general it’s good to start a new cycle. February kinda sucks - the weather is really crappy, and nothing particularly exciting about the month. There’s Greeting Card Day, of course, with all its pink and purple hearts and whatnot. Even The History Channel’s History of this day has a link to buy crap related to it. Glad that month is short. (No offense: Husk, you shoulda been born on the 31st ; Lana, the 1st ; Jean, what can I say…maybe you were a week late?)

My favorite is October, I think. Can’t really say why; it is my wedding month, as well as my youngest’s birthday month. Halloween’s usually fun…the leaves are changing, fall’s in the air…the weather is between freakin’ hot and dripping wet/cold.

What about you? What’s your take on this?

I wonder what the ‘best day of the year is’? Why doesn’t someone come up with a formula for that day? Pessimist English.

I think it’s October 15. Right in the middle of the best month…. getting close to Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas. In fact, I think Oct. 15 is the start of the holiday season. Plus, my “anniversary” with my L.I.S.P. is autumn. And October exemplifies autumn, no? Yeah.

I agree, fall is the best season of the year. Holidays (Thanksgiving anyone?), jeans and sweatshirt weather, changing leaves, football, hockey — good stuff. As for the knocks on February, I agree with most of them, especially back in Michigan where you were still staring two or more months of winter in the face and all of the attendant illnesses, etc. that go with that. I’ve spent more than a few birthdays in a bathrobe and bed-ridden, which in a certain context would be a good thing (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) but not in this one. Anyone follow that?

Oh, I understand your intent behind winks a nudges. Question is, does the sleepy one?!

    …nevermind, forget I said that.

Oh, to be bed-ridden… but isn’t it usually better to be stuck in the tub, Scott?
Sorry, I’ll quit–I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity:)
