Roller Coasters

Like roller coasters?

Those I’ve met in Oregon, for the most part, haven’t really been exposed to roller coasters. A few have hit the Matterhorn or Space Mountain at Disneyland (-world). Those are all well and good, but not really roller coaster parks.

I’m from Michigan, originally. As most from that part of the world know, if you like roller coasters, Cedar Point is a once-a-summer trip. Cedar Point to an Oregonian sounds like a forest in the Cascades somewhere.

Cedar Point opens a new roller coaster about every year. It’s one of those parks that is constantly vying for the bragging rights to the fastest, biggest, whatever-est roller coaster in the world. A couple of years ago, they opened the $25 million ‘Top Thrill Dragster’.

I somehow feel its my duty to share these pics. As the top caption says, the last one describes it best.

thanks Cliff

I’m an Oregonian who has been to Cedar Point more than once, although not for several years now. The _Mean Streak_ is my personal favorite — I prefer the bone-rattling, concussion-causing wooden coasters. Among the steel coasters I’d rank _The Raptor_ near the top.

I too haven’t been there for a few years.

The Mean Streak is fast and fun - and good description “bone-rattling, concussion-causing”. Wood ones sure aren’t smooth, but then that’s part of the fun.

I’d say the Raptor or Magnum 2000 are my favorites. I still like the Gemini–you can’t beat getting off that ride, walking through the line, and getting right back on.

Yeah. So, I’m from Nebraska. We don’t have any rollercoasters there. Also, your last link takes me to a “not found” page.
