The primary reason I wrote that was to (hopefully) alert any others out there considering them to what I went through. I have since gotten out of the vending business (have 1 machine at the office I work at, but it’s hardly a business anymore—more of a laziness for me and coworkers!).

Personally, I have no experience with 1800Vending, but there seem to be some serious horror stories online (for what that’s worth). A quick google search resulted in a Rip Off Report. The Better Business Bureau doesn’t have any complaints against them per se, but 1800Vending is also not a BBB accredited business. Here is the BBB site on them.

Hope this helps! Keep in mind that I’m probably a bit jaded due to a few bad experiences with various vending locators & resellers. I can honestly say I’m a happier guy now that I don’t have the machines to take care of.

I would sue the vending machines seller as he made you buy the vending machines while they lie to you assureing you that locators were easy to find. Sue them and return the vending machines and get your money back.

Whew...at first I thought Scott said to sue me. Joking aside, please don't sue me. I am but a lowly bloger.

I do have a friend who is a practicing lawyer who might be able to help you organize your case. If your interested.

I'd agree with M and sue YamFu. I mean, C & C in small claims, assuming you're under the $5000. And definitely report them to the Oregon AG.

You don't need a lawyer for small claims court. In fact, you're not allowed to bring one, although you can have one help you organize the case if you want.

I've never initiated a small claims, but generally it works like this:
- gather your evidence. Emails, contracts, letters, logs of events, phone bills, etc.
- go down to circuit court and file a small claims case. The clerks there are often very helpful with what you need to do. It's something like $60 to file.
- serve the other party. You have to send them formal notice that they are being sued. Normally, you pay a process server to go and hand-deliver the papers.
- meet them in court. Each side tells their tale of woe, then you both leave and the judge mails each party the verdict. Apparently, they don't want you to settle the score outside.
- if you win, you'll get a judgement. That's a legal document that says they owe you $x. You can then use it to try to garnish their income and mess with their credit. Most likely they will quickly pay. In fact, they may pay when they get notice of the suit.

Small claims is limited to $5000, so if we're talking more money than that, you need a regular lawyer and to sue in big kids court.

I only read the begining and the end. The end told me if I got that far to post a comment about it. So my comment is below.

I say sue....sue the pants off of whoever, unless it's me then I can forgive and forget. Need a lawyer who has little or no experience and passed the Oregon State Bar test a year ago? Well if you do I know one but all he could do is give you advice. I wouldn't trust his advice though he has a tendancy to change his mind quite frequently. Remind me to tell you the story of his two Vietnamese wives some time.

Not sure why, now, but did not report them to Oregon AG. I will though, that's for sure.

The lawsuit thing--I just don't know where to start with something like that. Any ideas? I don't know any lawyers...

Oh yeah, did you report them to the Oregon Attorney General? The Texas one couldn't care less about you, but the Oregon AG should care that their residents are being ripped off.
