For Sale III

Well, it’s a done deal. Ok, we have a sales agreement & earnest money. There’s all the detail work to finalize like inspections, etc. Inspection is already scheduled…so things are hopping. Closing date is January 31st. Soon, I know, but more on that later.

We feel very good about this whole thing. The buyer is a young couple that we’ve “connected” with. They are both real estate agents, so they’ve helped in the process, since Michelle and I are selling the place ourselves. Yes, we’ve also consulted a lawyer about the final Sales Agreement (including written offer and our counter-offer), so we’re covered.

This couple is planning to use our house as a rental, as I’ve mentioned. In preliminary discussions, we’re planning on renting it. Seems goofy, at first glance. However, after weighing all of the options, and the verbal agreement we have about the rent to be charged, this will work out very well for both parties. Not the smallest benefit is not having to move twice, and all the crap that entails.

Because we’re hoping/planning not to move, the fast closing date works too. We get the $$ earlier, we don’t have the Feb 1 mortgage payment (in addition to *some* kind of rent payment), and we can move on to the next phase of things. …Like building a house. But that’s a different post :) .

So, things are off and running. More when I have more to offer.

Congratulations Murphys of Oregon!!! You’re going to have an exciting year. Maybe we WILL have to think about a quick hop out there to see the new house by Thanksgiving or Christmas this year!

    Love to you all!

We will obviously keep you posted (whether here or some other method) as to the new house development…you’re always welcome of course.

We’d love to try to host a Christmas one of these years (’06 may be pushing it, but maybe ‘07?)…with enough lead, maybe we can get more of the family to be able to find their way out here.
