Property VI (It has Begun)
It has been a bit since I’ve posted about the property. That doesn’t mean things aren’t still happening (obviously)! October is shaping up to be a very significant month for our little project.
This past weekend, we spent some time cutting the wire ‘cow fence’ that surrounds much of our property. We cut a 18′ section (or so) and rolled it back. Mind you, this seems somewhat easy, but the fence in question is covered with blackberry bushes and various other plant life. Also, we found, behind this section is the remnants of an older fence, complete with barbwire and half buried under years of plant growth. This is to be the driveway entrance.
All of this is in preparation for today. After dropping Brendan off at school this morning, I drove by the property to find a backhoe had made its way through our fence section, pushed over a few dead trees and is sitting there just waiting for use. It has begun; the candle is lit (hope it’s not dynamite). Needless to say, I’m anxious, excited, nervous, concerned, stressed, happy, fired-up, etc. Make that “we”; Michelle’s feeling the same things too, I’m sure.
If I can stay off of my duff, I think I’ll be posting more often now, as there are actual events taking place, not just planning/preparation. So, hopefully I can keep anyone who’s interested in the loop. (Are you out there? Is this just for me to reread in 10 years?)
Pictures will be available at some point–we’ve taken several “pre-driveway” pictures, ultimately to be compared against the “after” shots.
Finally, from an administrative standpoint, I’ve created a new category for the Property. See if you can guess which one it is! —->
