Property XIII (docs)
Some time has past (not “2 weeks”!). Here’s what has changed:
- 1 of 3 docs: We have received acceptance for our septic location. That’s probably the wrong wording; it is not septic approval. That happens after the system is in, we ask them to come check it out, we pay some $xxx.xx fee, they show up and say something like, “yeah, that’ll work.”
Suffice it to say we can put our septic into the location we wish–and this documentation allows us to both proceed with building permits, as well as 1 of the 2 pieces needed for loan approval.
One down, and that’s a good thing. - 2 of 3 docs: We received word back from the potability test on the well. There are “contaminants”. Not something like nuclear waste, but something that requires further attention. Specifically, a treatment, followed by 5 days, followed by another potability test. The kicker is the treatment cannot take place until Friday this week (Oct 27th), so on top of the 5 day wait, we’re looking at 2-3 more days.
Not a good thing…but not a show-stopper. It’s a Delay Thing. If anyone is keeping track, this pertains to our loan. This means that it cannot be formally approved until the potability comes back acceptable. This does not affect building permits. Apparently the county doesn’t care if you get water, only what you do with it after-the-fact. - 3 of 3 docs: PGE has yet to get us a sketch and price estimate on the lay of the underground power. This one is a bit of a concern. It’s all about the timeline.
After we get the sketch, the escavator digs the trench. Then, 1-2 days a PGE guy/gal inspects and says it’s OK. Escavator then backfills the trench. Then, we wait. How long, you may ask. Silly question: 8-10 days, or “2 weeks”.
