Recorded

Small follow-up blurb to a post from last Friday… We received official word today that the loan has been recorded and funded. In other words, that obstacle is now out of the way. Once again, if you have any mortgage / financing / construction loan needs, please contact me–our mortgage person was awesome.

Next up - contact with escavators to prepare the homesite (detailed stuff, not just brute force clearing of trees). Also, contact the framers to discuss, well, framing.

We have been looking at and picking out the cabinetry. Apparently it takes quite a while to get the custom cabinets built, so we will be ordering them early on so that they will be ready at the point when they need to be mounted.

Lastly, much of the timber that we plan to remove has been cut. They will be wrapping that up very early next week. There is much scrap, anyone wanna cut and stack wood?!

The woods surrounding the house has been thinned–though in general it doesn’t appear much different. We elected to clear-cut a section (possibly 2) near the South end of the property as the timber there was suffering a bit, and its value would lessen in time, not appreciate. No brainer, in my opinion. There will be more pictures coming soon showing these areas, as well as the lumberjacks doing their thing.

    Good morning,
Glad to hear you are moving along on your house finally!!!
It sure is too bad you are there and we are here. We could supply
your lumber and your kitchen. Except that Bryan is so busy you
would actually have to get in line!! It has been a wonderful spring
for the kitchen business! What kind of wood are you going to
build the kitchen out of? Bryan just installed a natural cherry one
this week, it is beautiful!! But he says to use inset doors because cherry
darkens with age very quickly. I keep trying to talk Mom and Dad into
traveling out there. I think they would have a ball!!! Maybe when he
no longer owns the lumberyard!? Hey speaking of the office, I bought a
computer for the office this week. I love it Dad is still not too sure but
he is coming around!! Ok I realize I am rambling on.Take Care!

So good to “hear” from you Gretch! Thanks for the well-wishes, and while we love it in Oregon, there are some very real things we miss and wish we had closer access!

Bud & Shirley are obviously very welcome to come out here …as are you! Just give us a bit notice (say 15 mins).

    Keep in touch.

    Hey,
I was wondering who is doing your kitchen as my brother-in-law
worked at Yoder Kitchens in Corvalis(sp) when he lived out there.
He said they would do a good job. I would love to see a floor plan
of your house. Hope the spring weather is good to you and your builders!!

    Gretch -

Sorry took me so long to reply to your last comment!

We’re working with a design specialist at Lumbermen’s in Tangent, OR. They are getting our cabinetry work done. My father-in-law is overseeing everything–we’re pretty much at his mercy!

I’ll have to look into a method to get the floor plan for The Barn…something tells me free-handing something in Paint might not suffice. Maybe I’ll give that a shot! OK, no, I won’t.

When are you and yours coming to visit again!?

    –pat
