More on The Barn
How was your 4th? Ours was hot and sweaty! I believe temperatures reached the 92 mark or so, and we spent the day “off” working on The Barn.
Specifically, placing countertops (huge thank you to Jeff) and painting the interior–walls, baseboards, door casing (thanks go to Lana here for her help!). Mostly detail work, which translates to slow and potentially frustrating. We’re clicking along though.
We decided to have some fun in the kids’ room. The paint is a basic light blue base color, and then let the three kids (which includes me!) splatter-paint the walls. Michelle and I spent about 2 hours trying to block off any trim, doorways, some of the ceiling, & the window so that when splattering, things were a bit contained. After, we opened 3 cans of paint (red, yellow, blue), with one brush per can, and went at it. Great fun, I tell ya! If you ever have the opportunity for something like this, take it! I am sure the kids will remember that day their whole lives. I’ll be sure to get some pictures up soon.
Countertops are scheduled to be finished Tuesday (tomorrow, as of this writing). Next scheduled contractor event is the kitchen/bathroom flooring set for Thursday the 19th. That gives us a week (more to the point 1 weekend) to finish up as much or all of the painting in those rooms.
After that, we have the finish electrical, finish plumbing, and we’re nearly there! Currently, we’re thinking mid-August as the move date.
In looking back at my posts, I realized that I haven’t written about the “actual” burn-to-learn of the house. It was quite eventful, and we have a ton of pictures of that. So, that post should be coming in a few days (out of order!). edit: Uploaded some pics…will post about the actual event soon.
Hope all is well with your world, and that you had a wonderfully fun Independence Day!
