Christmas Day is drawing oh-so-near,

Once, there was a family of 5. Dad, Mom, 3 boys.

One day, Mom was in the back, giving a bath to the youngest boy. The other two boys were in the family room playing the Wii. Seemingly, out of nowhere, the middle boy starts wailing as though he has been the victim of the most unholy injustice known on this planet. This causes the youngest to comment: “Beanbaum hurt Yucas?”. This is not uncommon, it’s a regular thing for brothers to fight. We all know that. The older is bigger and not afraid to get physical with the middle brother.

Mom, pausing to get youngest boy out of the tub before launching the investigation, arrives a short time after the initial wailing has subsided. Unnoticed, she overhears part of the conversation between brothers:

Middle Boy: “I can make the sound whenever I want. I don’t have the face down yet though.”

Luckily, he hasn’t yet learned that only he should have that knowledge: 1. Once Parents realize it, he’ll lose that advantage, and 2. it’ll only get him pounded more often by older brother anyway.

The (great) guy that setup and handles our phone technology needs has a last name of ‘Tap’. That’s right: Tap.

So, is it purely ironic & just a coincidence?
Do you think he ever struggles with the ethics while setting up phone lines to listen in?
Was it destiny that he became involved with phones?
Perhaps a long-ago ancestor silently listened in to a conversation, and hence the phrase is actually named after him?

Wonder who else I know that has a name suitable to their line of work… ?

Have any April Fool’s Days events planned?

I don’t have anything planned, but do have 2 school-age kids. Instead of the usual wake-up method, I decided to wake them by asking them if they had yet looked outside…and that it snowed hard last night. I checked, and school was canceled–how lucky for them!

My boys sleep in 2 different rooms: The 10-year old sat up, excited, and asked if I’d push back the curtains so he could see. When I did, he seemed saddened that the snow hadn’t been “on his side”. I then broke the news that today was indeed April Fool’s Day, and gotcha!

The 7-year old got a big grin on his face and pumped his fist in the air in excitement. He too looked out the window, but didn’t comment. I asked him if he knew what day it was — “Yes, it’s Wednesday”. I asked what day of the year — “It’s April Fool’s Day” was the reply, but it didn’t sink in… yet. I just stood there grinning at him until finally he started to realize, and I dropped the “gotcha” on him.

They took it well, overall…and I reminded them each that they have the whole day to come up with something to get me back. We’ll see what they’ve cooked up for me tonight…

I’ve recently been toying around with Facebook, and decided to take a Movie Quiz. As a result, I was notified of this:

So, does this explain things? Is this a clue to solving my personal inner struggles? Is this why I have such a Love/Hate relationship with me? ‘Scuse me while I go ponder…

2 seconds later
Ok, done. Seems this is just a result of crappy programming.
